A cow doesnt have to have a calf every year, but if the calving is in spring, she will have the best quality feed. The amount of milk peaks at 10 weeks after calving, then falls, about 7% a month. After a calf, the milk rises again. The cow has a 2 or 3 month vacation between one calf and another where they produce no milk.
Some bulls have better genetics for production and longevity than others. If we use AI, we can use the worlds best bulls, as one bull can produce thousands of AI straws.

    couple of questions.
    1) why does a cow have to have a calf every year? wont she just keep producing milk if you keep milking her.
    2) why do dairy farms use AI? why dont they let them mate naturally?

I live just a few hundred yards from Yarroweyah Engineering.

They send their rotary platforms all over the world.

They can fit any kind of dairy equipment to their platforms.

    It’s what they do.

Yeah some friends have 18 a side swing overs, and its a real big open parlor. so it gets really shitty and dirty. it would take them an hour and a half to clean, but then they got a fire hose, and wernt so picky at the end

  5. markbneal says:

Maybe a 20 cow swingover for you?
With a 60 cow rotary you’d milk in about 40 minutes, but cleaning it will take longer than the milking!

My dad is looking for a new parlor set up. we are 8 cows a side. at 190 cows, 3hours to milk TIME FOR A UPGRAD, haha swing overs are pritty nice, and fast,

It is our unit. A google search for neals dairy would provide more info.

Yea for sure everything has a price! Is it your dairy unit or did you have an input on the installation.

I’m sure anyone that pays will get a platform made for them!

I thought Yarroweyah only made platforms for Westfalia Surge. None the less I suppose Delaval needed a good platform to put thier equipment on!
