Water Conservation: Jamaican Rio Grande (3 of 3)

Rio Grande is Jamaica’s largest free-flowing river and a major inland fishery. This water is important for the life and livelihood of 25000 people in Portland, Jamaica and is a habitat for hundreds of plants and animals. River poisoning- using chemicals to harvest shrimp- directly threatens the health and income of local communities and the wildlife of Rio Grande. This film captures the initial experiences of Upper Rio Grande communities and supporters in their quest to halt river poisoning and sustainably manage this vital resource.
