Lhundman’s travel blog entry: “The US program I came with set-up a weekend for all of its students to stay with an Australian family on a farm. They drove us out West about 3.5 hours and then dropped us off with our family for the weekend. We were staying in Brathurst, a town of about 30000, and even though it was smaller it reminded me a lot of home. We stayed with a family of 5, Anne and Terry had 3 sons, but only one was living at home. One lived in New Zealand, one in London, and the one who was at home had just gotten back from 4 years in London, and traveling Africa and Egypt…once again they all travel so much here! They lived on the outskirts of the town and lived about 25 minutes from their actual farmland. All of the farms here were sheep and cattle farms and they used to be vegetable farms as well until the drought hit. We are all now big believers and have a great understanding of the drought. These are the people it has actually hit. Sydney and the coastal cities are not in early as severe condition as the inland towns and farms. They said that the river that runs through their town they actually started to route to Sydney because there are more people there. They grass feed their cattle and when they can’t be grass fed (because there is no grass), they have to pay for grain, and if they …
