Australian Private Property Rights Abolished: James Delingpole Reports

His name is Peter Spencer, he’s a farmer in New South Wales, and his livelihood has been stolen by the Australian government in the name of — you guessed it — “combatting climate change.” That’s why he is now sitting atop that windblown tower you see in the photograph, on sheep farmland rendered useless by eco-legislation, starving himself to death in protest at his government’s callous disregard for his property rights. This is his 46th day on hunger strike. Jo Nova has been following the story closely. Here’s the eco-political background: As a part of Australia’s commitment to protect native vegetation and to reduce carbon emissions under the Kyoto protocol, Peter Spencer and thousands of farmers like him, have been subjected to a government imposed ban on land clearing. The saved trees are natural carbon sinks worth an estimated .8 billion to the government in reduced carbon emissions, should Kevin Rudd’s emissions trading scheme go ahead. But the farmers, who can no longer develop this land have received no compensation. Peter Spencer is among the victims of this legalised theft. He first told his story here in 2006. In recent decades, thousands of farms have become economically marginal and have gone out of business. What is not widely known is that this “marginality” has often been the result not of market forces but of government regulation. In particular, governments in pursuit of urban green votes have imposed a vast range of devastating new costs on farmers

Our Fabian socialist primeminister Julia Gillard in all her wisdom NOW wants to cull our wild camel polpulation(we have the most wild camels in the world) because their flatulants Or Farts are going to release to much methane .It’s getting beyond ridiculous. The poor Aussie are being offered one time compensation for the carbon tax at $23 per ton but no compensation as it rises upto $100 per ton.Soon we will not be able to afford food,it’s crazy. The Greens run our lives!!! GOD HELP US

  8. ironfalcon100 says:

The globalist Gillard government is overly keen on implementing the carbon tax in order to destroy conventional agriculture and industry to replace it with their own brand of an environment in worship of ‘Mother Gaia’.

Its not Alawaki {spell?} per say that concerns Ron Paul but the presidence it sets. He’s trying to protect us.

next election is 2013,, abbott will get outed some other drone will keep the tax or water it down just like they did with the GST and work choices. We cant win with this 2 party system.

  12. iElectricality says:

@AmytheAbo Some perspective? Creating government jobs isn’t going to increase investment at all. People are only buying these solar panels because it gets them $100 off their electricity bill (which is going up by 10% or $120 a quarter!). Any future tax break the ALP dishes out isn’t going to offset any of the increases we’ve seen since they came into power. I’m not pro-Liberal either, I don’t want Abbott to become PM, but your side is going to ensure he gets there with no policy set whatsoever.

  13. iElectricality says:

@Baldwynmayhem Libertarians are rising in Australia but I’m afraid our only Libertarian Party isn’t getting it’s message out enough. It came so close to winning a Senator at the last election with very similar principles to that of Ron Paul and Nigel Farage. Labor has become too big government fiscally and socially and the Liberals aren’t looking to change much of that either.

  14. Baldwynmayhem says:

@iElectricality I know, that’s what I’m saying basically, it is similar, but at least it replaced a bunch of really heavy and inconspicuous taxes and redtape. And I’m with you on Abbott. I don’t like Abbott, he’s a Howard Clone, warmongering at the drop of a hat NeoCon like Bush, I’d classify myself as a Libertarian Conservative now (I come from a Labor background and know how they think), I like Ron Paul and Nigel Farage, the common sense and the conviction for the people, not vested interest

  15. Baldwynmayhem says:

@AmytheAbo Your a zealot mate with no REAL grip on politics. You think you do, but you don’t and you are very very much asleep. That’s the sad thing about most westerners, they do not understand capitalism at it’s core, nor want to and are ignorant. On top of this everyone “believes” what the government tells them, like they are a bunch of warm fuzzy people here to look after everyone. They are people like you and me, worse still in it for themselves and whatever they can milk on either side

  16. garrethdavis says:

    Delingpole is incredible

  17. AmytheAbo says:

@AmytheAbo Once the dust settles and lamenting subsides, the majority of people are likely to find that the bill passed on Wednesday benefits them. Much of the money raised from carbon price of £23 per tonne of emissions will be recycled in the form of tax breaks and compensatory payments.
It will also be used to stimulate investment in new clean energy technologies leading to new jobs and increased inward investment. You’re an idiot. Get some PERSPECTIVE. Liberal manipulationion at its best.

  18. hqlion says:

@DizzyDish No, the government do have “guns” they have force, don’t pay taxes and people with guns come and put you in a cell. You may say we have a choice, like saying to a town which mafia family do want to come in and stand over you, you have no real choice, you have no real freedom.

  19. iElectricality says:

@AmytheAbo Who gives a shit about what the EU does? How exactly is this going to change anything? We’re still going to pollute with or without this tax and all this crap about moving to renewables and the 10 billion dollar Greens backed slush fund is propping up an industry the world market has chosen as a loser (See Solyndra, the same thing is happening here). Labor and the Greens won’t know what hit them and then we’ll get Mad Monk for 10 years because of your stupidity on this.

  20. U2Berror says:

    Damn these watermelons!

  21. PeekyBooo says:

The tax will also creep up on people as in many may be slowly suppressed without realising or being depressed enough to act.

Also the Laws passed will transform into a ETS, in three years. It’s a massive trick on those without any knowledge how government works.

Personally I will never pay a tax on Carbon. I will 100% non-compliance.

  22. CodeTwo2 says:

@CodeTwo2 …the same burgeoning surveillance and collection of personal data, the same tinkering with and destruction of, children’s education. The same, often illegal, increases in police and state powers, the same “unit-cost game”, where price rises instantly track any savings made by consumers to ensure they CANNOT hold onto their dwindling money. The same lowering of food quality, despite rising prices… and much more.

“The Plan” is right in our faces now. How long will we take it?

  23. CodeTwo2 says:

Yet MORE NWO machinations, in another part of the world. It’s becoming the same story everywhere - the same engineered “recession”, the same oppressive control of people, the same regulation of EVERYTHING to destroy economies and personal earnings, the same theft of markets by corporations, the same rules to slow road travel and productivity, the same huge RIGGED price rises just as people have reducing finances. The same climate lies, the same lying media, the same mandated child vaccination…
