Climate change is taking its toll on the holy springs of the northeast Indian mountains, despite the latter enjoying divine protection. A decrease in rainfall has seen a decrease in the water they provide. Local farmers in the state of Sikkim are now fighting for their livelihoods. With 80 percent of them dependent on the springs, theycannot afford to waste a single drop of rain. But deforestation and dry weather have made water a precious commodity. The government has now joined forces with the WWF to take action.
