~PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION FIRST~ WARNING: some people may find some scenes in this video distressing This is just a video i made in my spare time to show what happens in Australian Bobby calf, Pork, Ultra fine wool and Live export industrys. * there is no intention of copyright* Bobby Calfs: over 700000 week-old calves discarded yearly as ‘waste products’ of the dairy industry. Most people aren’t aware that in order to produce milk, dairy cows are kept almost continually pregnant. Unwanted calves (known as ‘bobby calves’) are sent to slaughter in their first week of life so that milk can be harvested for human consumption. Unknown to most consumers, the dairy industry continues to cut costs at the expense of animals. Right now they want to make it legal to deny calves food for the last 30 hours of their lives. Pigs: In Australia, the majority of the 300000 female breeding pigs (sows) are kept inside sheds continually pregnant and confined. It is these animals that produce the piglets destined to become bacon, ham and pork products. Most sows are confined for at least some of their 16 week pregnancy in tiny metal individual stalls, (and one third for the entire pregnancy!) so small they are unable to turn around. At best they can take a small step forward. They have no bedding. They are forced to stand or lie on hard floors. Just prior to giving birth, they are moved to a ‘nursery’ which would outrage every Australian mother. Pending mothers are confined in an even smaller …

hey guys, there is not intention of copy right,, just wanted to show every1 about these industrys and how today our “farms” are runned. all clips are from Australia and the clips at 3:14 and onwards are some of my animals that i have rescued from these industrys. exept Shilo the pig, but i added in his clips to show how fun and amazing pigs are. Raisin ( jersey) Kimiiko ( angus cross freisian) were both rescued from dairy farms around my local area. Chester the lamb was born at my highschool ag farm, he was a orphan, so i took him home and reared him, but if the school reared him he would of been fatterned up and sent to wingham export and would of faced the fate of over 1.9 million australian sheep every year. if u have any questions about any of these industrys please ask
please share around this info. thanks

In Australia, millions of animals suffer from horrific brutality & cruelty before death. We factory farm most of our animals, live export millions of them, feed them hormones to make them produce more milk, or grow faster for the slaughter. We mules our sheep with shearers & castrate piglets with no anaestetic. Before Australians point the finger at other countries for brutal treatment of farm animals; we should begin by looking at how they are treated here.

Download the film - www.overlander.tv or watch the entire program, all 44 videos, on youtube playlist - www.youtube.com Organic farming is currently receiving a lot of attention. Many farmers are keen to give organics ago but are unsure about the process involved and it’s viability. A new video produced by Mark Shea of Overlander.tv, hopes to demystify organic farming by bringing together some of Australias top commercial organic and non-toxic farmers, and ask them how they manage their enterprises without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Mark joined a tour led by Nuffield Farming Scholar Don MacFarlane which took in ten different properties including the Victorian Agricultural Research Centre. The great thing about the video is that it allows the farmers involved to tell their own story on why they went organic, how they went about it and whether it has been a viable move. The video covers such diverse farming enterprises as organic cattle, sheep, poultry, pigs, grain, wine, fruit and vegetables.

The Walmsley Family from Coolup focus their sheep enterprise entirely on supplying the live export market. Throughout the year, Eric Walmsley buys sheep out of sale yards to fatten in the paddock before selling them into the export market, with an annual turn-off of 30-35 thousand head per year. Current export volumes nationally run at around four million sheep a year. Prior to each shipment, export buyers spend up to three weeks sourcing sheep, drafting out any that are unsuitable to travel. The time between farm and ship is spent at an export feedlot, which enables the animals to acclimatise to the shipboard environment ensuring a happy healthy animal is delivered to the other end, which is the best outcome for the animal and for the industry.

Japan has long been our most valuable beef market, but there is still room for Australian beef to improve its position and gain even higher premiums. Australias reputation for food safety is the foundation of our success in Japan. Aussie beef is seen as an everyday good value product, with a clean natural image. Our next challenge is to get it on the menu in the five star sector. MLA works with chefs from top tier restaurants to win their respect for Australian red meat and help us spread the word.

Sebastian took time out of his pre-race schedule to visit Warrook Cattle Farm in Victoria to learn how Australians farm. Not many world champions can say they can also shear sheep… RedBullRacing.com

On Wednesday 23 March current Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel took time out of his busy pre-race schedule to visit Warrook Cattle Farm in rural Victoria for a crash course in Aussie farming. Sebastian is a nature and animal lover and was keen to get out of the city and explore the Australian countryside, so he was more than happy to roll up his sleeves and assist the farmers at the working sheep and cattle station, which is located approximately 80 kms south-east of Melbourne. Sheep shearer, Travis Scott gave Sebastian a quick lesson on the art of sheep shearing (it’s a lot more difficult than it looks) then put the world champion to work. Sebastian eagerly but with caution grabbed a sheep from the pen and got to it, under the watchful eye of 50+ media. With a little more guidance from farmer Travis, Sebastian sheared the sheep and was awarded a round of applause and congratulations from the farmhands and media. Job well done! Next up for the Formula One ace was hearding the sheep in the paddock with the help of resident sheep-dog, ‘Bluey’. He did well, and farmer Travis was so impressed with Sebastian’s skills that he said ‘if Formula One doesn’t work out for Sebastian, he can definitely get a job on the farm, he’s a quick learner’. © Red Bull, 2011

The Qingiing Sheep Show area is perched eastwards above the main Qingjing Village ( Cingjing Veterans’ Farm ) on Taiwan’s Central Cross Island Highway (Route 14) in Nantou County; also between Renai Township and Mt. Hehuan; 8 km northeast of Wushe. Originally, the Qingjing area was home to War Veterans who farmed the land. The Farm was opened to public on February 20th, 1961, and from then on became a major tourism destination, partly or mostly due to the fact that some kilometers further up the highway is Taiwan’s most popular High Mountain playground Mt. Hehuan Motorist wishing to reach Mt. Hehuan from the west side of the Island must pass directly through the Qingjing area which offers Resorts, Private lodging, Roadside stalls selling locally grown fruits and vegetables, Art crafts, restaurants etc. For some, it is just another Tourist trap but, for others, it is a beautiful place to spend the night or just take a break. Much of the Resorts, houses etc in this area were built of Swiss and Old English design, and with the rolling green hillsides, the High mountain Backdrop and Cypress trees throughout the area, one could easily imagine that they were actually some where in Switzerland. Every Sunday at 9:30am, the Qingjing sheep farm puts on a European style sheep roundup, sheep shearing and bullwhip show. The Star of this show is a New Zealander who lives in Taiwan. The Australian sheep industry is about to enter a new era that will offer faster, cheaper and more accurate breeding information. A new piece of technology called a SNP chip is in the final stages of development. The SNP chip is a small chip of glass that can hold up to 60000 known gene markers from sheep DNA. If validated, around a thousand of these gene markers will form the basis of an industry SNP chip, offering markers for the most sought after traits. These will then be embedded into Australian Sheep Breeding Values (asbvs) under the current suite of genetic improvement tools - namely LAMBPLAN and MERINOSELECT for all producers to use. DNA from a blood sample will show if any of the animals genes match the favourable genes on the industry 1000 SNP chip.

This is the best known Australian shearing song, and probably the best known Australian folk song after “Waltzing Matilda”. It’s authorship is unknown but it was obviously written as a parody of “Ring the Bell, Watchman” (1865), by Henry Clay Work, who is better known for his song “Grandfather’s Clock”. There is also a Welsh song to this tune, called “Twill Back y Clo”. Glossary: ringer: fastest shearer in the shed, who gets the biggest pay cheque blue-bellied Joe: sheep with completely …

Recent investigations have revealed a ‘growing’ animal industry that the vast majority of Australians would be unaware of. ‘Ultra-fine’ wool growers supply an elite international market and wealthy buyers from the world’s foremost fashion houses. Ultra-fine wool growing is an intensive animal industry. Specially-bred sheep are kept indoors in individual small pens 24 hours a day for four or five years. Nylon coats are worn by the ’shedded’ sheep to further ensure that dust and dirt does not …
