Experience the rolling horse country outside of Baltimore where Dave discovers the unique vision of Harvey Ladew. Starting in 1929, Ladew planted and sculpted Yew, Boxwood, and Hemlock to enclose garden rooms themed by color. Each enclosure and topiary was a unique expression of his sophisticated taste and keen sense of space. The garden was the setting for his exotic parties and is now open to the public for tours. Next it’s on to explore the blooming beauty of The Water Conservation Garden in El Cajon, CA with Director, Marty Eberhardt. The garden is a joint effort by water agencies to educate the public in ways to conserve water all over the country, not just in Southern California. With bold displays, informative signs and lots of paths to wander, visitors can enjoy The Water Conservation Garden and take home tips for their own home. In this episode of Garden Travels, Dave’s favorites include: Prostanthera, Mint Bush, Cytisus and Broom.

A must see documentary! about factory farming of pigs in Australia, footage included from Tasmania,This was screened as a wild card at Sydney Underground Film Fest and received great reviews, numerous emails of thanks were sent to the film maker. Gary Rhodes hits the mark well and truly with this gem on factory farms.These factory farming practices HAVE to be stopped.. National Foods Limited Chinese and japanese sponsored big money are helping to destroy every Australian farm and food producer across Australia.This is what is happening now and whats about to happen on a larger scale. An actual account of how it hurts Australian regional and rural communities. The negative experience of the sell out to foreign national Kirin holdings of National Foods Australia and Berri Fruit Juice Experience. National Foods Australia lost it way after been acquired by overseas interests and is no longer answerable to anyone here in Australia. Purchased firstly by the Philippines San Miguel and finally by the Japanese Mitsubishi Corporation through its division called Kirin Holdings who then bought out National Foods Australia. Recent Years have seen National Foods gain market dominance through acquisitions of Heritage brands with a long history here in Australia. Since then have begun to centralize operations and by closing the rural operations that had helped make the various milk brands viable such as Pura Milk Coon Cheese dairy farmers and farmers union and also with various juice brands such as Berri Just Juice and daily squeeze turning them into profits that head offshore. This has left in its wake massive unemployment and little opportunities for those former workers and suppliers. Further to unemployment crisis they have also provided the environment for foreign nationals mainly Chinese and Asians to set their eyes on purchasing farms though out …

Water conservation is tricky. Signs and shocking statistics do little to change behavior. Enter FUN. Imagine a virtual fish tank behind the water faucet. The water level is connected to how much water is being used. If you leave the water running while brushing your teeth or lathering your hands, the water level lowers. You need to be smart about how much water you use so you leave water for the fish to live. The water slowly refills as the faucet is off. This fun and memorable connection will remind people to conserve water wherever they are, not just while in front of the animation!
