In our continued efforts to bring Pakistans environmental issues to the fore, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Science and Technology has produced these Public Service Announcements (PSAs) on water conservation and climate change. This is in line with the UN Secretary Generals communication priorities for this year. The first of its kind animated songs are an effort to reach out to the youth in order to engage and motivate them in efforts to conserve water and help mitigate the negative impacts of climate change in Pakistan.
‘The Tanky Troopers’– a young group of kids and their parents– put up a street play at the American Embassy Schol on water conservation in their locality and how each person can contribute to eliminating the global fear of water shortage or global drought in the coming years. Witty, intelligent and thought provoking, the Tanky Troopers practise what they preach– going every morning around the colony to check on overflowing tanks and wasted water. They have been performing this play in their colony on multiple weekends and were filmed by top news channels as well as invited by UNDP to be a part of their program for Change, ‘Badlaav’.
